Beer Secret HEALS Your Liver? (Strange)

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a silent epidemic.

The symptoms are hard to pin down… meaning the disease can wreak havoc before you even know it.

Luckily, nature has a way to help reverse NAFLD and make your liver happy again.

And strangely enough, it’s found in something you’re supposed to stay clear of.

Researchers have found that this beer secret could HEAL your liver.

But don’t start downing pints just yet… there’s more to the story.

*****

Hops are an herb that do MUCH more than just flavor beer. A new study has shown that they can help turn back the clock on NAFLD.

Researchers from Oregon State University were researching possible treatments for NAFLD when they stumbled on hops.

You see, the hops plant contains some active compounds called xanthohumol (XN) and tetrahydroxanthohumol (TXN) which can drop the amount of fat in the liver.

To put XN and TXN to the test, researchers divided mice into five groups:

  • low-fat diet,
  • high-fat diet,
  • high-fat diet plus a dose of XN,
  • high-fat diet plus a BIGGER dose of XN, or
  • high-fat diet with a dose of TXN.

At the end of the study, they found that the mice in the final two groups had the least amount of liver fat.

TXN and XN worked by blocking a liver enzyme called PPARγ from turning sugar into fat inside the liver.

If you want to help your liver, it’s clear that hops are the way to go.

But it’s important that you don’t get hops by drinking a lot of beer. Alcohol causes the same problem – it leads to too much fat in the liver.

The best way to get hops is by supplementing. You can find a hops supplement online at Amazon.com or from your local drugstore.
