Christmas Treat SINKS Blood Pressure

It’s Christmas day and there’s no doubt you’re indulging in some of your favorite movies… libations… and treats with the whole family.

And while this is a day of celebration and joy… the prep for it can be stressful.

That’s why it’s important to keep your blood pressure down if you want to enjoy this Christmas and the ones that follow.

And that just got a lot easier to do.

You see, new research shows that eating more of one of your favorite Christmas treats is the best way to SINK your blood pressure.

And you probably gave it up years ago.

Chocolate lovers rejoice!

A new study published in the journal Nutrition shows that certain nutrients found in chocolate are just what your heart ordered.

The researchers in the study compared different “strengths” of chocolate: 55% cocoa and 90% cocoa to see what effect they had on blood pressure.

While both cocoa concentrations dropped blood pressure and improved atrial stiffness (a measurement of heart health), the 90 percent cocoa worked remarkably better.

In fact, the 90 percent group saw a 3.5 point drop in their systolic (the upper number) and the 55 percent ground saw a 2.4 point drop. Their lower number (diastolic) also dropped by 2.3 and 1.7 points.

That’s better than some of the mainstreams blood pressure meds!

Chocolate works because it contains flavanols – bioactive plant-derived that help lower inflammation.

Flavanols are proven to reduced insulin resistance, help you lose weight, and even heal your wounds faster.

So, if you love chocolate you should eat it on Christmas… and EVERY DAY.

Some people have a hard time with 90 percent cocoa (it is too bitter), but even the less strong chocolate will work. Chose the highest percent cocoa you enjoy.

There are also other sources of flavanols in foods: apples, pears, tea, grapes, blueberries, and others.

To make sure you are getting enough flavanols and other great plant nutrients (polyphenols, carotenes…) eat as many of those foods as you can and consider taking a superfood supplement as well.
