I know it sounds too good to be true, but a new study shows that one of your morning favorites burns fat… AND help you keep weight off… WITHOUT any extra effort.

I’m talking about coffee.

A new study published in the Journal of Functional Foods found that drinking four cups of coffee a day could REDUCE how much fat you gainno matter what you eat.

To obtain their results, the researchers gave two groups of rats a diet high in sugar, fat, and carbohydrates. Next, they gave one group the caffeine equivalent of four cups of coffee.

And they found some pretty surprising results.

The rats in the coffee group were 16 PERCENT less likely to gain weight than the rats who weren’t and they even gained 22 PERCENT less  body fat.

Coffee works because it contains caffeine, which STOPS your body from storing fat cells. This means you gain less weight– even with a high carb diet full of fat and sugar!

Here’s how it works. Caffeine reduces the action of two genes that cause weight gain:

  • Fatty acid synthase gene (FASN) which converts sugar into fat, and
  • Lipoprotein lipase gene (LPL), which absorbs fat in foods.

And BOTH were suppressed by the caffeine!

The FASN gene was 39 PERCENT less active in the caffeine-fed rats, while the LPL gene was 69 PERCENT less active.

Caffeine has also been shown to increase metabolism in other studies, a key component to losing weight.

If you’re not sensitive to caffeine, drinking 3-4 cups a day sheds pounds in no time.

And if you’re not a fan of coffee, try mate tea. This delicious South American beverage has less caffeine, but the results are the same.
