5 Surprising Breakfast Health Benefits (Wow!)

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Growing up, my mother practically pulled her hair out trying to get me to listen to her advice.

Here’s the thing: I can’t think of a single time when my mother gave me advice that was wrong.

And now her advice has been proven yet again, this time about breakfast.

Moms all over the world often tell their kids, “Eat your breakfast—it’s the most important meal of the day!”

Turns out, they’re on to something!

New research has highlighted 5 surprising health benefits of breakfast… and it’ll have you thinking twice about skipping it.

Three studies may prove, once and for all, that breakfast is here to stay.

In the first, researchers a surveyed 2,000 people to measure life satisfaction, happiness, and health. The researchers uncovered benefit number one: eating breakfast could boost your mood.

Breakfast eaters were not only more likely to receive a promotion at work, they also had higher overall life satisfaction and were more optimistic about the future.

The next study, presented at the Endocrine Society’s annual meeting, looked at blood sugar levels and insulin resistance. And they discovered benefit number two: people who ate breakfast in the study had lower blood sugar levels and better levels of insulin resistance.

Finally, another study, published in the American Journal of Physiology–Endocrinology and Metabolism, found that eating breakfast could increase carbohydrates burned during exercise and improve metabolism. Something about a morning meal led to more efficient – and leaner – bodies.

Now you have to admit your mom was right all along!

I know many people skip breakfast because it sometimes means waking up early to prepare food, and it can be hard to squeeze it into your busy life.

But I’d encourage you to take the time – the payoff is great and you will feel much better! Consider even making breakfast the night before so it’s ready for you in the morning.

P.S. While breakfast is good for you, this common beverage may not be. In fact, one study shows that it could cause glaucoma. Find out what it is right here.
