60% of Seniors Need THIS for Their Eyes?!

Dear Reader,

I’m going to ask a question, and I hope you’ll answer honestly.

How is your eyesight?

If you’re like most peoplewhen your doc asks this question, you’ll say, “My eyesight is fine.”

But there’s a big problem with that: because most of the time us humans don’t notice when things change SLOWLY (especially eyesight).

To prove my point, a new study found that 60 percent of older people need glasses to improve their vision.

But let’s do one step better than that!

The study out of the University of Gothenburg found that most seniors report their vision is just fine, but that is the opposite of what the study team found…

The study looked at 1,200 people who answered questions about their eyesight. The researchers then sat the participants in front of an eye chart and tested them.

The MAJORITY of the people in the study had poor eyesight and needed a new set of glasses.

Like I said before: visual impairment can creep up on you at a pace so slow that you don’t even notice.

In fact, there is a type of blindness called central blindness (where you lose the center of your vision) that almost nobody notices until too late – despite a large black hole develops in the center of your vision.

Don’t believe me? Tell me the last time you noticed your nose? Your nose blocks about 10 percent of your visual field, but you don’t notice because your brain fills in the blocked area.

The study team also found that most people had the WRONG prescription and 30 percent of women and 20 percent of men had cataracts (which also clouds vision).

As we grow older, the lens of our eyes becomes less flexible – which makes it difficult to focus on objects

Bad eyesight is dangerous because our eyes are how we get around in the world (especially if you drive a car).

But just because you’re getting older doesn’t mean your eyesight has to be bad

Yes, make sure your prescription is up to date, but take your eyesight seriously by giving your eyes the right nutrients.

Dr. Scott’s Vision Improvement Regimen:

  • Vitamin A: This vitamin is crucial for vision and eye health. It is an essential component of rhodopsin–a protein that absorbs light in the retina. It also is vital for the health of the cornea and conjunctival membranes.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: DHA found in fish oil is an Omega-3 fatty acid. The photoreceptors in the retina are made up of 50% DHA. I suggest you supplement with one to three grams of fish oil a day.
  • Berries: I’m a big fan of berries. They contain many powerful antioxidant compounds. Berries are high in essential vitamins and flavonoids that your eyes need. Studies have shown that blueberries may help with night vision, but so do bilberries and Maqui berries.
  • Lutein and Zeaxanthin: These carotenoids are found in colorful fruits and vegetables and help the macula determine color vision.
  • Balance Your Blood Sugar: Increases in blood sugar are part of the reason for the cloudiness developing. High blood sugar increases Advance Glycation End-Products (a fancy word for misshapen proteins caused by sugar). If you have problems balancing blood sugar, look to the herbal extract berberine and the mineral chromium.
