Miracle Compound STOPS Vision Loss?!?
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
Bad vision is something we’ve come to expect as we age.
We start getting thicker glasses or holding that newspaper closer… and each year it gets a little worse.
Sounds familiar, right?
But it doesn’t have to be this way. You deserve to keep your eyesight sharp well into your golden years.
And according to some research from the journal Optometry, there’s a natural compound that can help you do just that.
The miracle compound is lutein, a pigment found in plants like spinach and kale.
And if you’re age 50 or older, lutein could really help your vision out.
You see, lutein helps fight age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a disease that is the leading cause of vision loss for older folks.
Lutein has been the focus of lots of AMD research, including 20 human trials.
In one of these trials, scientists gave 10 mg of lutein to folks who were already suffering from AMD and aged 74 on average.
And after just a year, the researchers found incredible results…
The lutein significantly improved the participants’ vision quality — including sharper vision and better recovery time from light exposures and glares.
This means lutein not only helps improve your vision, but it also helps protect your eyes from damaging light exposures, which can speed up the effects of AMD.
Researchers believe that lutein fights macular degeneration because it helps block dangerous blue light (like the type from your computer or phone screens) and reduces the inflammation and damage caused by it.
In fact, lutein is so effective at this that one study found taking just 6 mg of lutein daily lead to a 43 percent lower risk of developing macular degeneration.
Lutein is found in many different foods including leafy greens, eggs, peas, Brussels sprouts and corn.
However, you would have to eat a truckload of these foods every day to get anywhere close to a 10 mg dose.
And that’s why it’s important to supplement your lutein intake. You can find lutein supplements at natural health stores and through online retailers.
Lutein is especially powerful when coupled with zeaxanthin, another powerful antioxidant, so be sure to select a supplement that contains both.
Live well,
