Mailbag! Feds Allowing Poisoned Food ?!?

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

You’ve got questions…

We’ve got answers!

Let’s face it, eating in the U.S. can be scary… and it’s not just because of all the junk food out there.

It’s because the federal agencies that are supposed to inspect our food, like the USDA, have been falling down on the job for years.

Now the feds have announced that they’re refusing to test our food for a chemical that could give you cancer.

So what can you do to keep yourself and your family safe?

Let’s dive in…

Hello Natalie,

I got rid of all the Roundup in my garage last year after reading it likely causes cancer. But recently, I’ve realized this stuff is all over our food crops.

Do you know if the government is testing our food for this poison?

Thanks,

Etta S.

Great question, Etta.

But I’ve got nothing but bad news to deliver…

Historically, the USDA has not tested food for Monsanto’s weedkiller Roundup or its active ingredient (glyphosate). Glyphosate is considered a likely cause of cancer.

However, we were all promised that testing was going to start this year.

Well, you know what a promise from our government is worth, right?

The USDA was supposed to kick off a program on April 1 that would start testing some food, on a limited basis, for glyphosate. But according to a USDA spokesman, the program has been scrapped for 2017.

Instead, the funding will be directed to a different testing program… one that also won’t be looking for glyphosate.

Call me crazy, but I see Monsanto’s grubby fingerprints all over this.

And trust me, this problem isn’t limited to the USDA. The FDA was doing some limited testing for glyphosate last year before the program was suddenly suspended.

However, it lasted long enough for researchers to find alarmingly high levels of glyphosate in honey.

And if it seems to you like our government is bending over backward to do favors for Monsanto, well, you’re not imagining it.

A recent California lawsuit alleges that a former officer in the EPA’s pesticide division, Jess Rowland, had a “highly suspicious” relationship with Monsanto.

Rowland chaired the committee that concluded there was not enough evidence to prove that glyphosate causes cancer, despite research indicating the pesticide is linked to non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He quickly left his position after the report was leaked to the press last year.

When you add all of this up, it’s clear that no government agency is going to protect your food from glyphosate, or Monsanto for that matter.

So you have to protect yourself.

The best way to do this is by avoiding genetically modified foods that were specifically designed by Monsanto to be used with glyphosate.

Additionally, be sure to wash all fruits and veggies thoroughly to remove all pesticides.
