Ancient Ritual Boosts Cancer Treatment

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, you already know how tiring radiation treatments can be.

And what’s worse, the side effects like fatigue, urinary problems and a nonexistent sex life can really drain your quality of life.

But as it turns out, these may no longer be a package deal.

You see, a recent study from the University of Pennsylvania shows that an ancient practice can ease the side effects of radiation treatments and help restore your sex life.

And the best part — you can get started today.

I’m talking about yoga, and it’s been known to help with everything from pain to anxiety.

More recently, it’s been linked to helping dull the harsh side effects of prostate cancer treatment.

In a groundbreaking new study, researchers split a group of men receiving radiation treatment for prostate cancer into two groups. One group participated in yoga classes that met twice a week and the other did not.

All participants responded to questionnaires that measured their levels of fatigue before, during and after their radiation treatments and yoga classes.

And after analyzing the results, the researchers made a shocking discovery…

Participants in the yoga group experienced less fatigue than the non-yoga group throughout the course of treatment.

But the good news doesn’t stop there…

Yoga also helped to improve the sexual well-being and urinary function of the prostate cancer patients.

This means by simply attending two yoga classes a week, you can fight fatigue and improve your sexual health, even when suffering from prostate cancer.

Not wild about the idea of going to yoga?

Don’t worry — you don’t have to be a contortionist to do yoga.

Most studios offer beginner-level classes that don’t require you to fold yourself up like a pretzel and still help to strengthen the pelvic floor, which is key to a healthy sex life regardless of your cancer status.

You can find a yoga studio near you by doing a search on yogaalliance.org. Chances are you can find a class near you today.

Live well,
