Drop ONE Food to Stop Heart Attack & Stroke
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
Nothing can throw a wrench into your golden years like a heart attack or stroke.
Even if you’re lucky enough to survive, your health could be wrecked — and your independence lost —forever.
Fortunately, there may be an easy way to keep this from ever happening to you.
You see, research from Yale University shows that by cutting out just one dangerous ingredient, you can significantly drop your risks of having a heart attack or stroke.
And the best part — it’s dead-simple to avoid it.
I’m talking about trans fats. These cheap oils are found in many processed foods.
They are so dangerous because they are chemically treated to have a longer shelf life. And this process also makes them clog up your arteries and wreak havoc on your heart.
While it’s well known that these fats are terrible for you, few places have banned them.
One of the few exceptions is a handful of counties in New York that took a stand and banned trans fats a few years ago.
Just this month, Yale researchers released a study on just how effective this ban was.
To investigate this, researchers collected hospital admission data before and after the ban, focusing on heart attacks and strokes.
And what they found was incredible…
In just three short years of banning trans fats, the rates of hospital admissions for stroke and heart attack were both significantly decreased.
Just imagine what this could do in five, 10 or even 20 years!
There’s a clear relationship here. Less trans fats means fewer heart attacks and strokes.
This means that lives could be saved by simply taking this nasty fat out of our food supply
If you live in an area that still allows trans fats, it’s still incredibly easy to avoid them.
Avoiding most margarines and processed and fast foods is key — these foods are loaded with trans fats and many other ingredients that can mess with your heart health.
Additionally, don’t assume you’re safe if something is labeled “no trans fats.” These foods can contain up to 0.5 grams of these deadly fats. Instead, look for ingredients like shortening or partially hydrogenated oils — both are trans fats.
Live well,
