Alert! Pain Drugs KILLING Heart Patients?!?
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
If you suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), just trying to take a deep breath can be an agonizing struggle.
And you probably have a medicine cabinet full of drugs to treat your COPD — and the problems that come with it.
But there’s one medication you’re going to want to throw in your trash right away.
In fact, it may be a matter of life and death.
Because 70% of COPD patients are now taking a drug that’s been linked to serious heart disease.
And if you’re on these pills too long, they could end up killing you.
When you’re diagnosed with COPD, you get a crash course on opioid painkillers like OxyContin and Vicodin.
Docs hand them out like candy because, in addition to treating pain, they’re supposed to help you breathe better.
But they just may stop your breathing instead… forever.
A new study out of Canada looked at 144,000 COPD patients and found that those taking opioids were up to 215% more likely to die from coronary artery disease.
Can you believe it? And the mainstream wants you to believe these drugs are HELPING you!
This is a huge problem, too. Like I said, about 70% of folks with COPD take opioids.
The problem is that opioids lower the oxygen levels in your blood and increase amounts of carbon dioxide. Plus, they can trigger inflammation within your arteries — a major risk factor for coronary artery disease.
And the risks don’t end with coronary artery disease. If you take opioids with COPD, you’re also more likely to end up in the emergency room or hospitalized with a heart episode.
Plus, pain-killing opioids may keep you from noticing a problem like chest pain until it’s too late.
Hands down, opioids are the riskiest prescription drugs on the market today — and that’s really saying something.
If you have COPD and have been prescribed opioids, make an appointment with your doctor right away.
Ditching these meds just may save your life.
Live well,
