
6 Drugs You Should NEVER Take
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
It’s no secret that drugs cause as many problems as they solve.
That is why I have a hard time recommending them for my patients.
Some of the top-selling drugs on the market today can cause cancer, give you diabetes… or even leave you suicidal!
All drugs come with risks – but some are particularly dangerous.
That’s why I developed this list of 6 drugs you should avoid at all costs. Getting them out of your life could protect your health… or even save your life.
Prednisone or Cortisone
These are powerful anti-inflammatory drugs. Most doctors who prescribe them would never take them for more than a week or so.
That is because long-term use of these drugs increases blood pressure, weakens muscle, destroys bones, increases ulcers and leads to fragile skin. Many people who take these drugs complain of mind fog or feeling drunk all the time.
Your best bet to stop inflammation is to choose fish oil, curcumin, and boswellia.
Coumadin or Warfarin
Coumadin and Warfarin are blood thinners. They are also used as rat poison. Doctors prescribe these to prevent strokes and heart attacks, but the science behind them is shaky.
The dosing of coumadin is very difficult – it is easy to overdose. The side-effects are also bad and include easy bruising and bleeding.
If you want to prevent heart disease it is much better to support your health with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, vitamin K, and natto.
Cholesterol Lowering Drugs
If you are on one of these drugs, think seriously about talking with your doctor about quitting.
Statins are some of the most complained about drugs on the market. Muscle pain, liver toxicity, digestive problems, and increased cataracts are all well-known side effects.
Your solution? Forget trying to lower your cholesterol. High cholesterol is a made-up condition that has nothing to do with how long you live or how healthy your heart is.
Want a healthy heart? Exercise, eat well, and supplement to make up for nutrients you are missing in your food.
Antidepressants
Unlike high cholesterol, depression is a real condition that needs your attention.
Antidepressants, though, don’t help. Many people who are taking these drugs don’t feel any better and are at a high risk for suicide – not to mention the risk of harming others.
These drugs are well-known to create a condition known as akathisia – or feeling of agitation. Combine akathisia with suicidal thoughts and you have a bad cocktail that can sometimes lead to disaster (remember Columbine?).
You can fix depression by first understanding it is part of life – it is hard sometimes. If you are not getting over depression, though, it is time to take action. Exercise is probably your best tool, but being around people, St. John’s wort, B vitamins, and sunshine all help.
Diabetes Drugs
Insulin and drugs that moderate blood sugar are some of the best-selling drugs on the market. The problem is that (even though there are clinical changes) people don’t live any longer or better on these drugs.
In fact, people are at increased risk for heart disease when taking these drugs, not to mention the digestive problems, fatigue, and liver damage.
Diabetes is a modern disease – one of processed foods and too much sugar. Eat better, exercise, and avoid sugar and foods that act like sugar. Try berberine and the mineral chromium to help control blood sugar naturally.
Beta Blockers and Calcium Channel Blockers
High blood pressure drugs weaken the heart and make you feel tired. Once you are on these drugs, they are very hard to get off.
There are great natural solutions to high blood pressure. Try CoQ10, exercise, and magnesium. And don’t worry about salt – its link to high blood pressure is weak.
The take-home message here is that you can find a lot of what you need in nature – and avoid the side effects.
