Is This Secret Disease Slowly Killing You?

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Next time you are in a room full of people, take a look around.

One-third of the folks you see are silently destroying their livers – and if you are not careful, you could add yourself to that list.

There’s a liver disease that’s slowly becoming an epidemic in America. It’s one that can put you on the road to heart disease, diabetes, and even early death.

By the time you learn you have it, a lot of the damage may already be done.

But I’m going to show you some simple ways to protect your liver – and maybe add years to your life in the bargain.

Fatty liver, or Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), was unknown a few decades ago.

But it is now so common that research scientists are calling it an epidemic.

An estimated 17-33 percent of Americans have NAFLD.

NAFLD is associated with weight gain, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, heart problems, and early death.

Too much fat in the liver leads to a skyrocketing inflammation – which causes serious liver damage and cirrhosis.

So, what is going on here?

Your liver naturally contains fat, but not much.

Fatty liver is the result of poor blood sugar control.

Our bodies don’t know what to do with high blood sugar, so they convert that sugar into fat.

If this is happening all the time, some of that fat gets stuck in the liver.

There is a well-known joke in medical school that goes like this: if you don’t know the answer to a question on a test, choose the liver as the answer.

That is because the liver is where everything happens. Your liver detoxifies your blood, stores essential vitamins, and performs many metabolic functions.

The take-home is simple: destroy your liver and your health plummets.

What is the most effective way to prevent or treat NAFLD?

Fix blood sugar problems: it’s that simple.

Dr. Scott’s Blood Sugar Fix:

  • Blood sugar is made worse by alcohol, high carbohydrate foods, soda, sugar drinks, and processed foods. Avoid these as much as possible.
  • Maintain a Healthy Weight: This is easy to say, and harder to do. There is much you can do to help maintain a good weight including boosting your metabolism and increasing your muscle mass.
  • Support Your Liver with Healthy Herbs: I like milk thistle, dandelion, and turmeric for liver support.
  • Control Blood Sugar With Natural Remedies: Try berberine, curcumin, and chromium to help keep blood sugar under control.

Besides blood sugar, you should also work to stop inflammation. Try fish oil, curcumin, and olive leaf extract.

Fatty liver is a silent killer.

Most people who have it don’t know that they have it.

By taking steps today to control your blood sugar, you can help prevent this disease and all the pain that comes with it.

Health and Happiness,

Scott Olson
