Dr. Scott’s Fix for Painful Joints
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
How do you feel in the morning?
Do you jump out of bed, ready to take on the day?
Or do you feel like the rusty tin man from the Wizard of Oz?
If your knees feel stiff… or the joints in your fingers are a little achy… then your joints may be sending you a message.
It might surprise you to learn that the health of your joints is one of the more important factors in your long-term health.
It’s a simple formula: if your joints are bad, then you can’t move around. Not moving around leads to a whole ton of problems (heart disease, weak bones, depression…) – especially as we age.
Let me show you how to take care of your joints so that you can keep active your whole life.
Joints occur anywhere in your body where two bones meet.
Joints are made of cartilage – which itself is made up of proteins (mostly collagen).
Like many other things in our bodies, cartilage breaks down if not supplied with proper nutrition.
The main reason our joints are unhealthy is because we don’t feed them correctly.
The only permanent solution for achy joints is to maintain healthy cartilage.
Dr. Scott’s Plan for Healthy Joints:
- Exercise: In general, the more active you are, the healthier your joints. Any exercise where you are moving your joints works: try walking, running, golf, tennis or others. If you already have sore joints, then consider exercises that don’t put pressure on the joints: try cycling and swimming.
- Maintain healthy weight: Losing weight, is important for good joint health. Each extra pound you carry around puts 4 times the pressure on your knees. So, if you remove 10 pounds from your body, you have just taken away 40 pounds of pressure off your knees.
- Boswellia serrata: Boswellia is an herb that has been used for over a thousand years to help maintain joint health. Studies show it can improve joint comfort in as few as five days.
- Collagen: This is the most abundant protein in the body and it helps to ensure the health and vitality of your skin, hair, tendon, cartilage, bones, and joints. It even helps to reduce wrinkles. Most of us don’t get any collagen in our diets, so supplementation is your best bet.
Your joints have to last a lifetime, but it really doesn’t take much to keep them in good health.
Keep your exercise up and make sure you are getting enough collagen and they should last as long as you need them.
Health and Happiness,
