Uncle Sam is Destroying Your Health (Here’s What to Do…)

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Let’s be honest – there isn’t much the government does well.

And that’s especially true when Uncle Sam starts telling you what to eat.

For years, our government has waged a fear campaign against healthy fats, and millions of folks are afraid to touch them.

But a new study has proven (once again) that everything the Feds have told us about fat is wrong.

And following their advice could send you straight to an early grave.

If you’re like me, you distrust the government and almost everything that it does.

Yet, when it comes to food advice and what to eat – many of us fall for what looks like good advice coming from the government.

Even my 18-year-old daughter is prey to this bad advice.

The other morning, I watched as she lightly buttered a waffle – afraid to get too much fat.

Where did her fear of fat come from?

The answer is: her school and friends.

Most parents know their opinion doesn’t count much to a teenager, especially in the face of peer pressure

It doesn’t matter how many times I tell her that butter is great for her health, she continues to be afraid of butter.

But it is not just me saying butter and saturated fats are okay for your health.

The massive ongoing Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) Project has looked at people’s diets and how fats affect their well-being

The study has followed over 135,000 people in Africa, Europe, America, the Middle East, and Asia.

Here is what they found:

  • Both saturated and unsaturated fat intake are linked to better heart health.
  • A high-carb diet is a better predictor of health risks than fat consumption.

Let’s take a closer look at both of these findings:

The more fat you eat (both saturated and unsaturated), the healthier your heart and the longer you are going to live.

The government advice to stay away from butter and other saturated fats (or to just avoid fat altogether) will shorten your life… simple as that.

Other studies support this, showing that eating fats helps us avoid diseases (such as diabetes and Alzheimer’s), helps our heart, and keeps our brains healthy as we age.

The biggest predictor of disease is how many carbohydrates you eat.

This may come as a shock, but carbohydrates (sugars, grains, starches) are the foods that are likely to harm your health.

This is just more evidence that everything the government teaches us about what to eat is wrong.

Not only did the government get it wrong, their advice is completely opposite of what is good for you.

Which fats do I recommend?

  • The best solid fats are coconut oil, butter, and lard/tallow
  • The best liquid oils are olive and avocado

But don’t forget the omega-3 oils (like fish oil) which are essential to your health and that most people don’t eat enough in their diets.

Health and Happiness,
