[Warning] Prostate Treatment is Damaging Your Heart!

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Which would you rather die from: prostate cancer or heart disease?

No guy should have to make that decision, right?

But, believe it or not, that’s the exact choice being forced on men with prostate cancer right now.

A new study published in the British Journal of Cancer showed that a common treatment for prostate cancer increases your risk for heart failure by an astounding 81 percent!

But you don’t need to be the next statistic. Because I’m going to show you some simple ways to protect your prostate – and your heart in the bargain.

Androgen deprivation therapy (or ADT) is a pretty routine therapy for men with prostate cancer.

ADT is a group of drugs that reduce testosterone or block testosterone from working.

Testosterone blockers are considered effective because they deprive the prostate cancer cells of the male sex hormone testosterone (which is thought to cause cancer cells to grow).

But a new study of over 7,500 of men in California found that those who were taking ADT had a mind-blowing 81 percent increase in heart failure.

The first surprise the study uncovered is that these men were all screened before the study and found to not have any heart disease.

So, it is very-likely that the testosterone blocking drugs are destroying their hearts.

And the second surprise was that the lead author of the study, Reina Haque, had this to say: “These results could be particularly important for prostate patients who have risk factors for heart disease.”

Her conclusion? A prostate patient with heart disease should be worried.

But what about the rest of the men taking these drugs? Remember, they harmed everyone, not just the men with heart disease.

An 81 increase in risk is beyond huge.

I would say that the FDA should ban the treatment on such a poor study outcome (but we both know that the FDA is slow to react to anything that might harm drug company profits).

There are, of course, better ways to take care of your prostate without resorting to these crazy hormone treatments.

Dr. Scott’s Prostate Health Program:

  • Eat well: This means plenty of veggies and good proteins. Tomatoes, which contain lycopene, are especially good for the prostate. You should also avoid processed or sugary foods as much as you can.
  • Get plenty of zinc: Foods high in zinc include pumpkin seeds, beef, and spinach. Supplement to make sure you are getting enough.
  • Herbs that support good prostate health include pygeum and stinging nettles.
  • Fiber-like substances called beta-sitosterols are especially good for the prostate.

No matter how many times I see studies that provide a false choice (choose your heart health or your prostate health), they still surprise me.

When given a choice like that, my response is always: I want both – a healthy heart and a healthy prostate.

Just follow my plan, and you can have both, too.

Health and Happiness,

Scott Olson
