The BIG Problem With Catching Cancer Early

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

When it comes to cancer, we’ve all been told the same thing for years – catching it early saves lives.

There’s practically some new way to detect cancer in the news every week.

But what if “early detection” isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be… in fact, what if everything we’ve been told about it is dead wrong?

The truth is, all of this focus on detecting cancer early may be causing more problems than it solves.

And the reason is bound to surprise you.

Just look at a lot of the early detection technology out there today.

We have mammograms, which dose you with toxic levels of radiation. And studies show that women who get mammograms don’t live any longer.

And then there’s the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test for prostate cancer, which is famously unreliable and often leads to over-treatment for cancer that never would have killed you.

And that’s the main problem with early detection – the treatment.

Once doctors find something, they feel compelled to treat you – even if the cancer is slow-growing or relatively harmless.

The next thing you know, you’re getting radiation or ricking chemotherapy treatment you don’t need.

While your doctor and the latest news headline may tell you otherwise, most medical treatments for chronic disease will do nothing to improve your outcome.

They’re not any more effective than doing nothing at all.

All you have to do is look at disease rate charts: Alzheimer’s deaths, cancer deaths, heart deaths have all increased over the years, despite all the early detections and treatments.

Let’s not sell modern medicine short though. It does some things amazingly well, like emergency medicine.

If you get in a car wreck or fall off a mountain, don’t come back to this page – get yourself to an Emergency Room ASAP.

But for any long-term condition, you have to be the one to take the reins and find the solutions for your health that truly work.

This ultimately comes down to three things:

  • Say No to Drugs – As I’ve mentioned a lot, many prescription drugs are traps (and some can actually give you cancer). Once you start taking them, they can be very hard to get off. Many people who stop taking drugs find they are no worse off than they were before. Most drugs you take are not a solution to your health problem (they only hide your symptoms).
  • Find a Natural Solution –  Nature has the answer to most of our health problems. Vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and herbs can help to support your body fixing the problem. If your doctor is not open to natural treatments, find one who is.
  • Change the Way You Are Living – Many of our health problems come from the way we are living. What we eat, how much we exercise, how well we sleep, and how much stress we feel have big impacts on our health.  Reassess your diet and make sure to get a solid night’s sleep.

I’m not against modern machines uncovering the early stages of disease. I’m against medical treatments that have many side-effects that end up not helping you live any longer.

Health and Happiness,

Scott Olson
