You Can REVERSE Brain Aging… Here’s How!
Age is great for wine, whisky and cheese.
But for your brain? Not so much.
It’s frustrating to forget a friend’s name… or to be constantly looking for your car keys.
But here’s the good news… researchers have found ONE factor that may be forcing your brain to age at light speed.
And once you correct it, you can keep your mind sharp and nimble well into your golden years.
Researchers at the Cambridge Center for Ageing and Neuroscience took 527 adults, aged 20-87 years old, and put them in an MRI machine to analyze their brains.
Then the plotted amount of white matter (the active part of your brain) against the participants’ weight.
What they found was astounding: overweight people had less white matter than people of normal weight.
The chart they developed shows a clear relationship: as your weight goes up, your brain white matter goes down.
We have long known that being overweight increases the risk of stroke, cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, fatter liver, and diabetes.
Now we know it destroys your brain.
The people who lost the most brain matter? Middle-aged people. In fact, it seems like overweight middle-aged people lost a decade’s worth of brain white matter (it looked to the researchers as if their brains belonged in bodies 10 years older).
Not only did they find a loss of white matter, but they also found that this neurodegeneration is associated with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Huntington’s diseases.
The good news from the study is this: you hold your brain’s health in your hands.
Think about losing weight now and help to ensure a healthy brain now, and later in life.
Dr. Scott’s Weight Loss Brain Health Program:
- Start with Blood Sugar Control: Being overweight is often a sign of poor blood sugar control. You can get to better sugar control by avoiding sugars and processed foods and by supplementing with the mineral chromium and the herbal extract, berberine.
- Eat Mostly Proteins and Non-Starchy Veggies: Proteins help you to feel full and help to keep your blood sugar low.
- Focus on Exercises that Builds Muscle: Try lifting weights two to three times a week. You can also work with a personal trainer to find out what you can do to build muscle. If you can’t lift weights, at least make sure you are walking or exercising most days of the week.
- Take Brain-Specific Nutrients: Your brain needs fish oil (EPA/DHA) and anti-inflammatories like curcumin and Bacopa.
