The #1 Mistake “Healthy” People Make
I’ve seen them in my office more times than I can count.
I’m talking about people who consider themselves the “picture of health.”
They eat right… they exercise… maybe they’re even taking nutritional supplements.
But there’s one mistake that lots of these “healthy” people are making – and you may be making it, too.
And it could end up shaving years off your life.
The biggest mistake most people (including the healthy ones) make is ignoring their blood sugar.
We used to think that only diabetics had to worry about blood sugar. Now we know that everyone should.
That means everyone reading this should be concerned about flooding their bloodstreams with sugar.
The reason is simple: when you eat loads of carbohydrates, your blood sugar skyrockets and you make more insulin.
It is the combination of high blood sugar and high insulin that our bodies hate and that causes many diseases.
When you have high blood sugar, here is what you are risking (even if you are normal weight):
- Heart disease: A study of over 40,000 men found those who ate a large amount of sugar were 37% more likely to develop heart disease. Women fared even worse. The Nurse’s Health Study (75,000 middle-aged women) found diets that increased blood sugar doubled the risk of heart disease.
- Increased free radicals: High blood sugar lets loose tons of free radicals that destroy DNA and cells throughout your body.
- Glycation: While glycation (misshaped proteins due to high sugar) are not common knowledge, they are the reason our eyes cloud as we get older (cataracts), our blood vessels get damaged and blocked, and our skin wrinkles.
That is all bad news, but it works in reverse: stop the high blood sugar, stop the destruction.
Let me show you how.
The first step is eating well, by avoiding processed foods. Center your diet around healthy proteins and as many vegetables as you can.
Try some light exercise every day, and consider supplements like fish oil, curcumin, and Boswellia to control inflammation.
And, finally, if you need added blood sugar support, the mineral chromium and the herbal extract berberine are proven to help. You can find them at just about any vitamin or supplement shop.
Keeping your blood sugar low is one key to a long and healthy life.
