WEIRD Heart Attack Signs You Can Miss

Everyone knows what a heart attack looks like, right?

You suddenly grab your chest, and there’s pain radiating down your arm.

But here’s the truth…

If you get to the point where you’re clutching your chest in an emergency, you only have about a 50% chanceof making it through the day and an 80% chance dying in the next few years.

Never let it get to that point.

There are heart disease warning signs you can spot MUCH earlier.

The only problem? Some of them are a little weird and easy to miss.

Heart attack is still the number one killer of both men and womenin the United States.

There are 735,000 people who die each year when the blood vessels feeding their hearts become blocked and their heart tissue dies.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

There are early warning signs (signs that most people don’t notice until it’s too late).

Let me show you:

  • Snoring: Yes, snoring is an early sign of heart disease. You have heard your dog or your child snoring, but that’s not what I’m talking about. The type of snoring I’m talking about is loud enough to wake up other members of the family. The worse type is where someone is snoring and they gasp for air (this is called sleep apnea).
  • Easy Exhaustion: Exhaustion is hard to measure in a person, because so many people are out of shape. The key to determining if this is a problem is if you have a problem with something you normally do easily. If walking up stairs is no problem, but then suddenly changes, it’s time to visit your doctor.
  • Bad Breath: You might not think bad breath is anything but an annoyance, but bad breath that doesn’t go away is a sign of gum disease. Gum disease is associated with body-wide inflammation and that increases the risk of a heart attack.
  • Feeling Light Headed: We have all stood up too fast and felt dizzy (and this is normal), but when light-headedness happens every time you stand up, you should seek medical care.
  • Remember: ANY shortness of breath, vomiting, pain in the jaw, chest, or arm means you need to talk to your doctor right away. ALSO: women have been known to have mild symptoms and often miss that they had a heart attack. If you feel any of these symptoms, however mild, you need to consult with a doctor.

But let’s not stop there. There is a lot you can do to prevent heart disease:

Dr. Scotts Heart Healthy Heart Program:

  • Eat well: Avoid processed food (fast foods, packaged food) as much as possible. Trans fats, sugar, and other chemicals will destroy your heart. Eat as many vegetables as you can and choose healthy proteins (I like grass-feed and free-range meats).
  • Stop Inflammation: Pick your favorite anti-inflammatory. I like fish oil, curcumin, and Boswellia.
  • Exercise: Find something you love to do (biking, swimming, golf, tennis, etc.) and do that as much as possible. You don’t have to be too crazy with exercise – even walking will help.
  • Antioxidants: Make sure you are getting enough antioxidants. I cover my bases by taking a superfoods blend which is great for controlling free-radicals.
