This “Forgotten” Nutrient Could SAVE Your Life
Ask a typical doctor which nutrients you need to stay healthy, and he’ll probably list all of the “rock stars.”
I’m talking about nutrients like vitamins C or D that we’ve known about for years, and that seem to be in the news every week.
But there’s a missing mineral that can determine where you live a long, healthy life… or kick the bucket early.
This “forgotten” mineral impacts blood pressure, metabolism, nerve processes, immune function, and many other aspects of health.
There’s a good chance you’re not getting enough… but correcting your deficiency could be the secret to adding YEARS to your life.
Magnesium deficiency affects 80% of people in the United States.
How can that be?
Well, given the state of modern agriculture, your chances of getting enough magnesium in your food are almost zero.
Add to that things like caffeine and sugar, which deplete your magnesium levels, and you have a recipe for a deficiency.
Magnesium was originally known as the relaxation mineral because it helps with anxiety, sleep, and muscle cramps.
But magnesium is known to be involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions including protein synthesis, blood pressure, muscle and nerve function, and blood sugar control.
How important is magnesium? It can affect all of the following conditions:
- Asthma
- Atherosclerosis (clogged arteries)
- Attention deficit disorder
- Chest pain (angina)
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Cluster headaches
- Depression
- Epilepsy
- Heart arrhythmias
- High blood pressure
- Migraine
- Muscle cramps
- Osteoporosis
- Parkinson’s disease
- Premenstrual syndrome
- Sleep problems
- Type II diabetes
Almost every system in your body needs magnesium–that is why I keep writing about it.
My Favorite Way to Fix Magnesium Deficiency
A great way to get this mineral is Epsom salt baths–because you can absorb it through your skin.
Nuts, avocados, and meat are good sources, too.
But, because of its importance, I suggest you take supplemental magnesium. I prefer magnesium that is an amino acid chelate (this means they combine magnesium with a protein). Common chelated forms include magnesium glycinate, magnesium lysinate, and others.
