Don’t Fall for This “Fat Advice”
Here is a question for you: should the government telling us what to eat (and what not to eat)?
Given that more Americans are suffering from obesity and diabetes than now than ever before, the answer is NO.
The government already has a HUGE say in which medications you can afford, they shouldn’t get a stake in your dinner plate, too.
And the truth is, the government hasn’t always been in the business of handing out diet advice.
How we got here is a bit of a crazy story.
A Minnesota doctor named Ancel Keys came up with idea that cholesterol and saturated fats were bad for you and he launched a study in 1958 to prove his hypothesis.
At the end of his researcher, he made a very serious FALSE claim: you to reduce fats in your diet to keep a healthy heart.
Sounds familiar, right?
But the problem is, Keys manipulated the study outcomes by eliminating information that didn’t match his hypothesis.
Keys was a better politician than doctor and the government jumped on board the low-fat train by recommending a diet low in fat, eggs, meat and milk.
He also helped to develop a national food policy and was appointed to the board of the American Heart Association. His influence has been disastrous… and long-lasting.
Ever since we started eating low-fat, Americans have been getting FATTER and UNHEALTHIER.
Imagine if you had a football team that lost for 50 years, would you think it’s time to change your plan?
America has been using the dietary guidelines set down by Ancel Keys for over 50 years what we’ve got for that sick and sicker.
Let’s take a look at what has happened since America went low-fat:
- Over two-thirds of Americans are considered obese or overweight
- Heart disease has skyrocketed
- Almost 10 percent of Americans have diabetes
- And Alzheimer’s is more common than ever.
Studies on the types of foods we eat, have this to say:
- A high carbohydrate, low fat diet makes you gain weight
- Vegetable oils (which replaced butter and lard) increases your heart disease risk
Here is the kicker: very large studies have shown that the countries that eat the most saturated fat have the lowest risk of heart disease.
If that’s not a reason to enjoy more steak and whole fat dairy, I don’t know what is.
