Dr. Scott’s Brain Defense Protocol
Getting older isn’t easy for any part of your body.
But aging takes its biggest toll on your brain.
With each passing year, you lose a few more brain cells… and your brain can even begin to shrink.
And this process can put you on the fast track to losing your precious memories… and your independence.
Fortunately, there are a few easy ways to defend your brain.
AsI said, the natural aging process is tough on your brain.
And when you couple that with the poisons – like sugar, trans fats, and drugs – that we come in contact with every day, it’s no wonder your brain is suffering.
Luckily, you can build some defenses.
Many studies now support the use of supplements for brain protection. Here are some of my favorite.
Dr. Scott’s Brain Defense Protocol:
Omega-3: I can’t say enough about essential fatty acids EPA/DHA. These are one of the biggest deficiencies in the modern world and almost completely missing from our diets. Studies have shown Omega-3 fatty acids are good for your heart, immune system, brain, and blood vessels. It also helps with mood and reasoning abilities. I recommend supplementing 1-3 grams a day.
B Vitamins: Want to stop depression and defend your brain at the same time? Make sure you’re getting more of the B vitamins. B vitamins help with depression, but also dementia, and poor thinking. B vitamins can be found in beef liver, fish, poultry, eggs, anddairy products. B12, B6, folate, and biotin are especially important.
Curcumin: Curcumin is the main bioactive compound found in turmeric. Curcumin protects your brain in a number of ways. It increases levels of dopamine and serotonin (in fact, it works as a great antidepressant). It also increases blood flow to the brain. It is a powerful antioxidant and brainprotectant.
Ginkgo: The most popular herb in the world is Ginkgo. It is so effective, that it is a prescription in Europe. Gingko improves memory and cognitive functions by improving small blood flow (called microcirculation) It has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety and improve short-term memory.
Zinc: This mineral is a big part of your immune system, but it also has a huge impact on mental health. Studies have shown zinc helps with mood disorders, depression, and anxiety. You can find zinc in red meat, poultry, beans whole grains.
Mitochondrial Support the energy-producing cells in our bodies (mitochondria) need certain nutrients (CoQ10, Alpha lipoic acid, astaxanthin, selenium, Vitamin E) to keep our brains working well throughout our lives.
