Deadly Infection Threat HIDING in Your Home?!

When you think about where you would get an antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection – like MRSA– you probably think about the hospital and other public places.

But the truth is, these dangerous infections are hiding much closer to home.

Because new research shows that one of the world’s deadliest drug-resistant bacteria is lurking in something you use just about every day.

Fortunately, there’s a way to rid your home of it.

Here’s how to stay safe.

I’m talking about your washing machine.

You might think when you throw clothes in your washing machine that they get clean. They do – but washing machines just clean dirt and grime, not bacteria.

Just because your clothes look clean when you pull them out of the dryer, that doesn’t mean they are free of bacteria.

And a new study proves this could jeopardize your health!

Researchers at the University of Bonn in Germany discovered a local hospital was spreading a pathogen called Klebsiella oxytoca –  a drug-resistant bacterium that kills half of the folks who it infects – patients all because of an old washing machine.

And the worst part? The washing machine is identical to the one you’d find in your home!

The bacterium was being passed from one victim to another because the washing machine didn’t kill the bacteria.

The key, the researchers discovered, had to do with temperature.

Conventional washing machines wash at a temperature of around 120 degrees.

Washing machines in hospitals normally reach much higher temperatures of 140 degrees or more. But in this case, the machine was not industrial strength.

The reason your home washing machine washes at a lower temperature has to do with your hot water heaters being set at a lower temperature.

Most people set their hot water heaters around 120 degrees to save money and to avoid burns.

So, should you crank up your hot water heater?

The answer is maybe.

If there are young children, elderly adults, or sick folks in your household, it might be time to consider a higher temperature on your water heater.

If you got this route, be sure to also install anti-scaled valves in your sinks and showers.
