URGENT Recall Alert for Diabetics!

If you have diabetes, you already know how important your insulin is.

And that’s why you may have an insulin pump.

This hands-free device helps you get the medicine you need, but without all the worry and painful injections.

But the trouble is… they don’t always work.

And if you have a certain model, your life is at RISK.

Here’s everything you need to know.

The FDA has issued a Class 1 recall of the Medtronic MiniMed600 insulin pumps because of a potentially fatal risk of incorrect dosing by the pumps.

The FDA and the manufacturer suggest a “reasonable probability” that using a defective pump will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.

The company has received more than 26,000 complaints, but only one recorded death thus far.

The problem is that model 630 G and 670 G have broken or missing retainer rings which loosens the insulin cartridge and leads to incorrect dosing.

This results in either really high blood sugar or really low blood sugar, both of which can be deadly.

I’ve said it more than once: be careful about anything new in medicine – we never know how a new drug, procedure, device will work until it has been used by thousands of people.

It also might surprise you to learn that medical devices are almost NEVER tested before they are put into use.

This is because of a “grandfather clause” which allows a device to be used if it’s not “substantially different” than a previous device. That knee replacement, heart valve, pacemaker, insulin pump… all have never been tested for safety or effectiveness.

The FDA usually gives a nod to all new devices anyway.

While it’s tempting to choose something like an insulin pump because it’s a brand new technology that looks on the surface to help you. I wouldn’t suggest using any new gadget until after it’s been used for at least a decade.

Your body can do a much better job than a machine at controlling your blood sugar by eating a lower-carb diet, exercising, and taking supplements that support good blood sugar control.

And if you have a Medtronic MiniMed600 contact your doctor ASAP.
