[BREAKING] A Hidden Risk for Celiac’s

Dear Reader,

If you or a loved one already struggles with celiac disease, chances are you know gluten is a huge red a flag.

Because, when you eat gluten, your body attacks your small intestine, destroying the tiny villi – the fingerlike projections in your small intestine — which help you absorb food.

Villi destruction means that those with Celiac have trouble absorbing the nutrients your body needs (and that open a can of worms for other health problems).

But, as a whole, Celiac might seem pretty manageable. Just avoid gluten right?

Unfortunately, that’s not quite the case. Chances are, there’s one Celiac risk you haven’t heard about…

A recent study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, linked Celiac Disease with increased risk of dying from heart disease, cancer, and even lung disease.

Using nationwide data from Sweden and the United States, the research team examined 50,000 patients with Celiac disease and their risk of death.

When compared to people without Celiac disease overall risk of death increased by 21 percent.

Now we’ve known for a long time that celiac disease is associated with malnutrition (because their body can’t absorb the nutrition it needs).

But now there appears to be something else about the disease that’s driving the risk of heart disease, cancer, and lung disease upward.

And the answer is inflammation.

The researchers discovered the highest risk of death was the first year following diagnosis.

At first this seems puzzling because after people are diagnosed, they begin a program to eliminate gluten from their diet (which means inflammation should go down).

But it then you have to remember that people change to a gluten-free life slowly (because of the many foods gluten hides in). So inflammation can take a long while to tame.

Essentially, their highest inflammatory time is the year when they are diagnosed.

If you have Celiac disease, you should (no matter how anti-gluten your diet) take a multivitamin and work to keep inflammation low by taking fish oils, curcumin, Boswellia.

Also, make sure you get plenty of sleep and keep your stress levels as low as possible.
