Plant-Powered Pain RELIEVER?!

Dear Reader,

Let’s be honest, we’ve all done it…

When we’re in pain, we’re tempted to reach for that bottle of aspirin, ibuprofen, or other over-the-counter pain relief.

And while non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSIADS) might temporarily work, they come at an enormous cost.

Aspirin alone is responsible for 40 to 60,000 deaths every year (mostly due to stomach bleeding) and other NSAIDS are in credibly harmful for your liver.

What if there is something you could take when you are in pain was every bit as powerful as those pills, with none of the side effects?

Well, there is…

Living with pain is no joke. A recent CDC report estimated that 50 million Americans – just over 20 percent of the adult population – deal with chronic pain.

So it’s no wonder we’re reaching for all those easy painkillers, when just getting through the day is difficult. But the side-effects of these store-bought painkillers will have you suffering more (and maybe even land you in the hospital).

And if you go to your doctor he’ll probably give you opioids – which are dangerous and addictive (leading to more pain and a higher risk of death).

The good news is that with the legalization of marijuana (in many states), more and more research is being done on this important plant – especially when it comes to easing your pain.

Cannabis and cannabis extracts aren’t your choice if you’re been in a car wreck or you’ve recovering from a surgery, but they are the perfect supplement for replacing aspirin and other NSAIDS.

You may have heard of CBD – an extract of marijuana that is showing up in everything from food to creams.

CBD is especially useful for anxiety, sleep, and even childhood epilepsy. AND, there’s a growing number of studies using CBD for pain.

But that is not the only compound found in marijuana that can help with pain…

A recent study, published in the journal Phytochemistry, reported that many compounds in cannabis exhibited strong anti-inflammatory properties.

The research team focused on two flavonoids (also known as cannflavins) which showed promise as natural painkillers with very few side effects.

It is mind-boggling, but these cannflavins were first discovered more than three decades ago. But the research was buried because marijuana was illegal.

The researchers identified cannflavin A and cannflavin B as promising pain-relieving compounds.

According to a previous study, cannflavins A and B are thirty times MORE effective at reducing inflammation than aspirin. The cannflavins work by regulating inflammation and pain at its source (through molecules called prostaglandin E2 and leukotrienes).

The problem with cannflavins is that they occur in such small amounts in the natural plant that it is hard to get enough to be effective. Hopefully, selective breading will change that in the future.
