Hearing Loss Secretly DESTROYING This Too?!

Dear Reader,

If you ask people to repeat themselves more than a few times a day, there’s a good chance might be losing your hearing.

Most people don’t notice hearing loss because it happens slowly over time. So slow, in fact, it’s hard to tell any difference from one day to the next.

It’s good to have someone assess your hearing every year – not only because losing your hearing is frustrating and awful — but because hearing loss is strongly linked to something else you DEFINITELY don’t want to lose…

Your memories.

A recent study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that hearing loss can raise your risk of dementia by a whopping 17 percent!

The study looked at 16,270 participants and found that overtime people who had hearing loss had higher rates of dementia.

This was remarkable because we already know a ton of risk factors for dementia: heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, depression, rheumatoid arthritis… but those diseases weren’t as significant as hearing loss.

The research team discovered that hearing difficulties in older adults speeds up the natural aging process of the brain… sending the risk of dementia sailing upward.

According to the World Health Organization, ten million new cases of dementia occur every year. The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease (but there’s also vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, and others).

If you don’t want to be one of the ten million, then you need to take steps today to make changes in your life.

And the good news is you can prevent dementia by taking care of your ears.

The best part? Taking care of your ears can be easy:

  • Vitamins C, E: These antioxidants protect fragile ears by stopping oxidants from damaging crucial structures and the nerves that connect the ears to the brain.
  • B-Vitamins: The many B vitamins (B6, B12, Folate…) are all needed for essential ear functioning and nerve conduction.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids: DHA and EPA found in fish oil are essential for brain and nerves.
  • Phytonutrients: I’m a big fan of berries, they contain many powerful antioxidant compounds. Berries are high in essential vitamins and flavonoids that your ears need.
