Plant POWERHOUSE Boosts Your Heart…and More!
Dear Reader, Here’s a question for you:
When was the last time you took a drug and you got more than a single benefit from it?
Of course, that’s a ridiculous question — because most drugs can BARELY do what they’re supposed to do! What’s worse? They come with a list of side effects that’s two miles long.
Unfortunately, the same is true when it comes to your heart health – drugs are NOT the answer if you’re looking to keep your ticker strong.
Set the pills aside and let me show you an all-natural, plant POWERHOUSE that will help your heart with the bonus of additional benefits.
They’ve been used as far back as the Aztecs and Mayans back in the day… I’m talking about seeds, specifically chia and flax. But what really makes these seeds so powerful is the fiber found inside them.
You’ve heard me say it plenty of times: making changes to your dietary habits is one of the best ways to boost your heart health and get a bunch of other amazing benefits.
If you are looking to help your heart, then I would suggest you focus on two nutrient-rich seeds: chia and flax.
Adding seeds like chia seeds or flax seeds to your diet is one way you can protect your heart against a lengthy list of diseases.
And here’s the best part: you barely have to change anything! Both flax seeds and chia seeds disappear into many of the foods you are already eating.
Flax and chia seeds are rich in an essential fatty acid called Alpha linoleic acid (ALA), a fatty acid your body needs and cannot function without. ALA is converted into eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic (DHA) – these are the same oils found in fish oil and are well-known to benefit your heart.
Both seeds are also a substantial source of protein, minerals, fiber, and other nutrients.
Flax seeds are great because they contain lignans – which are naturally occurring compounds that work as antioxidants to help reduce blood cholesterol levels and lower blood pressure.
Not only that, but flax seed lignans have the potential to reduce tumor growth in women with breast cancer and men in prostate cancer.
Not to be outdone, chia seeds contain some of the same nutrients as flax seeds. Plus, they help lower blood sugar and function as a natural appetite suppressant.
If you’re looking to add these into your diet, there are a few ways. For flaxseeds, I suggest you grind them (or buy them pre-ground).
Chia seeds are small enough that you can just sprinkle them over anything that you are eating. Sprinkle the ground flaxseed or chia seeds into your spaghetti sauce, inside of a meatloaf, baked goods… or almost anything you eat.
If you like smoothies, dump a tablespoon of these seeds in before you blend.
While flax and chia seeds are my favorite, other seeds like pumpkin, sesame, sunflower, are jam-packed full of nutrients that are also great for your heart.
