Is Your Handwashing Technique SPREADING Germs?!

Dear Reader,

We’ve all been told to keep her hands clean – especially so in recent times.

But wouldn’t it be nice if we were told the RIGHT way to do it?

Washing your hands regularly is one of the keys to stopping the spread of germs, in part because we touch our face far more often than we think we do. Which spreads those germs to our nose and mouth.

But what happens when you wash your hands, and there are still a ton of bacteria and viruses on them that end up spreading further?

Can it happen? The answer is yes, and the culprit is hiding in many bathrooms across the country.

I’ll be honest, I’m not much of a germaphobe.

I’ve always believed that being exposed to a variety of bugs helps make your immune system tougher.

But even I cringe every time I walk into a bathroom and see someone using one of those air dryers.

Why? Because those dryers are taking anything on that person’s hand and blowing it out into the air of the bathroom.

And now, a new study provides even more evidence against the use of these air dryers

A study, presented at the European Congress on Clinical Microbiology Infectious Diseases, compared the effectiveness of plain old paper towels and air hand dryers for removing viruses and bacteria.

Guess which won?

Paper towels were found to be 10 times MORE effective at keeping a person’s hands clean from contamination than an air dryer!

The research team used a special form of tracing and found that the volunteers who used the air dryers had bacteria on their clothing, where they sat down… everywhere they went.

This goes back to a ton of old research which shows friction (more than a type of soap) removes bugs from your hands.

So the best way to clean your hands is to make sure you scrub them hard with a gentle brush, or use one hand to rub the other hand. AND then use a paper towel or a cloth to dry them.
