75% of Americans Indulging in This DANGEROUS Trend

Dear Reader,

In times of trouble, we all need comfort

And the more time you spend at home (especially during this pandemic) the more you might find yourself reaching for comfort in the form of food

Let’s be honest… comfort foods are one (of many) ways us humans deal with a life of isolation and worry.

I get it, truly. We’ve all been there.

Butthat being said, going overboard on comfort food can have dangerous consequencesnamely when it comes to your health.

So let’s go over some tips to keep you out of this danger zone.

If you’ve struggled with indulging one time too many, you’re not alone. A new survey finds that 75 percent of Americans are munching on more comfort food

And according to the study, the top comfort food of choice is potato chips. (Although ice cream is a close second… followed by candy, pizza, and mac and cheese.)

These overcooked, chemical, and (quite frankly) poisonous foods used to be occasional treats, but most people in the survey say they needed their favorite comfort food just to get through the day!

See the problem is, these comfort foods are full of bad salt, too much sugar, chemical additives, and all sorts of strange substances.

Big Food manufacturers make comfort food specifically in a way that lights up the addictive parts of your brain – which is what makes them so hard to resist!

But there’s one big key to avoid eating too many comfort foods. And that is, realizing that your body is craving certain nutrients and these unhealthy foods TRICK you into thinking you are getting those nutrients!

So here is how you can restore the balance and reduce the comfort foods in your life:

  • Start with water: a surprising number of cravings disappear when you drink a glass of water. It doesn’t make sense until you try it and see how well it works.
  • Make sure you get enough electrolytes: these minerals (sodium, calcium, magnesium, and potassium) are used all over your body (and most people don’t get enough (especially magnesium and potassium).
  • Eat protein rich meals: eating enough protein helps to quell cravings.
  • Good quality fats: fat is the best appetite suppressant on the planet, choose essential fatty acids and fats like coconut oil.
  • Try going on a walkwhile it seems backwards (exercising will increase your hunger), a lot of people report the opposite.
  • Watch the alcohol: alcohol is not only empty calories; it drops your inhibitions (which is bad when there are chips in the house.

Bad foods act like a magnet: once you start eating them, they tend to attract other bad foods.

Now, I’m not saying you can’t EVER enjoy these foods. Because comfort and junk” foods aren’t a problem if they’re an occasional treat. But it’s when you eat them every day and all day long… that you’re going to run into problems.

It’s also good to make sure you’re just not bored and eating because you have nothing else to do.

Remember: the best place to exercise discipline is at the grocery store (most people will eat something if it is already in their house.)

P.S. Most “comfort foods” you’ll want to limit to a few splurges here and there, because nine times out of ten comfort food means food that is not so great for you, health-wise. But like most things… there can be an exception. In fact, there’s a comfort food that can improve your mood (and not just because it’s a tasty treat!) Find out more about this mood booster here, and more.
