The Key to Preventing Alzheimer’s [A Must-Read!]

When it comes to Alzheimer’s, prevention is your number one strategy

I’m sure (especially if you’ve been following me for a while) you already know that your mainstream doc has nothing to offer you to stop Alzheimer’s.

Even natural medicine has a difficult time when the disease has advanced

The key to Alzheimer’s is to PREVENT it from ever happening… and that means you need to start today

Here’s where you should begin.

A very large study, published in the Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, found 10 keys to Alzheimer’s prevention

The study combined 243 observational prospective studies and 153 randomized controlled trials to determine what made a difference and helped people avoid Alzheimer’s:

Here is their list:

  1. Cognitive activity (how much you use your brain)
  2. High homocysteine levels (a protein you can lower by taking B vitamins)
  3. Increased weight (BMI) later in life
  4. Depression
  5. Stress
  6. Diabetes
  7. History of head trauma
  8. High blood pressure in midlife
  9. Orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure and feeling dizzy when you stand)
  10. Years of education (the more, the better)

When you look at the list, you notice that there is only one thing you can’t change (your history of head trauma) – the rest are under your control.

So with that in mind – pun intended — your brain-protection plan looks like this

Exercise to keep your weight under control, balance your blood pressure, reduce stress and improve your mood — as well as keeping blood flowing to your brain!

Eat the best you can: avoid processed foods and too much sugar. (If you didn’t already know there are certain foods that could put you on the Alzheimer’s fast track. Read about them here and find out which foods you need to limit.)

Use your brain as often as possible. Keep it engaged by doing puzzles, reading, and socializing.

Get a little extra help with the following nutrients:

  • Creatine is an amino acid that is good for the brain and helps support energy production.
  • Omega 3 fish oil is an essential fatty acid your brain needs to support its function and protect against oxidation.
  • B Vitamins: take a multi-B vitamin (known as B complex).
  • CoQ10 is powerful antioxidant and helps to provide energy throughout the body.
  • Antioxidants can be vitamins such as Vitamin A and Vitamin C, but I especially like the phytonutrients (polyphenols, carotenes…) found in superfood supplement combinations.
  • Herbs such as curcumin and bacopa work to decrease inflammation and act as powerful antioxidants.

P.S. Your diet is of great importance when it comes to the fight against Alzheimer’s… and not all foods are working in your favor. Read this article to find out out which ones might be putting you on the Alzheimer’s fast track.
