Bring Joint Pain to a Screeching Halt!

Dear Reader,

Have you thought about putting up your Christmas lights yet? Maybe you have, or maybe you’re waiting until after Thanksgiving… or maybe you’re questioning if you’re doing it at ALL this year.

And less face it, if you have joint pain, the thought of hanging lights, getting on a ladder, and putting up a tree is downright unbearable.

When you were younger, a little bit of joint pain was no big deal. You either ignored it, or it got better in a few days.

But as you get older joint pain tends to last longer and even become persistent. Because it takes more time for your body to heal.

The problem is though, joint pain is much more than just an annoyance, it can limit your life.

But you don’t have to let it bring your life to a screeching halt.

There’s an easy way

A new study, published in the journal Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, has shown that there’s a simple and easy pain reliever: walking.

The neuroscience behind the painkilling effects of taking a stroll has to do the with the way our brain works.

We’ve all heard of opioids (those drugs that stop pain) but there is an opioid system inside your brain that, when activated, releases an opioid-like substance in your brain.

When you exercise you make your own opioids – which helps you feel better and have less pain!

Exercise also triggers the release of endorphins (other feel-good molecules) that improve your mood and have you feeling less stress

The researchers found that people who exercise regularly reduce their pain thresholds.

Now, I realize this can be difficult since, when you’re in pain, your inclination is to sit down and not move

But that’s the OPPOSITE of what you should do!

Not moving around weakens your muscles, zaps your motivation, and reduces those brain opioids and endorphins – this is not where you want to be.

And I’m NOT talking about pushing yourself to the extreme or running a marathon. Just a simple stroll will do.

If exercise is a problem for you, try a stationary bike, swimming, walking around the block… anything will help you feel less pain.

P.S. Aside from exercising, there are other natural ways to help reduce joint pain. Go here and learn about the natural ways you can put an end to your pain.
