[Breaking] A Source of Alzheimer’s Discovered?!

Dear Reader,

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia in the world.

You’ve probably heard that this degenerative brain epidemic is caused by a buildup of harmful plaque in the brain

That much we know.

But why that plaque buildup in the first place is a source of heated debates in the medical community.

And now a new study suggests a key player behind these plaques…

Currently 47 million people worldwide have Alzheimer’s disease – with health officials thinking that number may be 130 million by 2050.

And now Japanese scientists, publishing their work in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, discovered a specific enzyme that may be responsible for Alzheimer’s

The researchers, working out of Tokyo Metropolitan University, uncovered a mutation in an enzyme called MARK 4 (which is short for Microtubule Affinity Regulating Kinase 4)That mouthful of an enzyme harms what’s called tau proteins and causes them to misfold.

When tau proteins misfold, they form the tangles which destabilize brain neurons

Those tangled proteins stick around forever and gradually start killing off brain cells

What does this mean for you?

This study was looking for a way to make a drug that blocks MARK 4, but you can do that yourself

While there is no hard research yet, my best advice is to start reducing MARK 4 with the usual suspects: diet, exercise, proper nutrition…

Let’s get started.

Dr. Scott’s Brain Health Program:

  • Start with Blood Sugar Control: Being overweight is often a sign of poor blood sugar control. You can get to better sugar control by avoiding sugars and processed foods and by supplementing with the mineral chromium and the herbal extract, berberine.
  • Eat Mostly Proteins and Non-Starchy Veggies: Proteins help you to feel full and help to keep your blood sugar low.
  • Focus on Exercises that Builds Muscle: Try lifting weights two to three times a week. You can also work with a personal trainer to find out what you can do to build muscle. If you can’t lift weights, at least make sure you are walking or exercising most days of the week.
  • Take Brain-Specific Nutrients: Your brain needs fish oil (EPA/DHA) and anti-inflammatories like curcumin and Bacopa.
  • Creatine is an amino acid that is good for the brain and helps support energy production.
  • CoQ10 is powerful antioxidant and helps to provide energy throughout the body.
  • Antioxidants can be vitamins such as Vitamin A and Vitamin C, but I especially like the phytonutrients (polyphenols, carotenes…) found in superfood supplement combinations.

P.S. When it comes to any disease, prevention is crucial. The same goes for Alzheimer’s. Go here for this must-read article about the KEY to preventing Alzheimer’s
