Easiest Way to Get Your 40 Winks

It’s hard enough to get a good night’s sleep – even good during good times! 

But with all the news, politics, and the ongoing coronavirus it is downright impossible to get your forty winks.   

You might even find yourself tempted to grab an over the counter sleep aid. 

But before you go buying one of these drugs that are riddled with side effects, you’ll want to read about these easy, all-natural solution for your sleepless nights. 

With the current state of our world, most of us feel a lowlevel anxiety a good portion of the time.  

Which means, you probably have difficulty getting to sleep. Or maybe you’re one of those who wakes up repeatedly in the middle of the night. Or both.  

So forget getting eight hours of sleep – you’re lucky if you get five or six!

Studies by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggest only one-third of people get the minimum of seven hours of sleep each night.  

There has been a steady decline in prescriptions for sleep disorders since 2015 – but that’s because these drugs don’t work and have horrible side effects.  

But now that trend has reversed with an increase in almost 15 percent since the first of the year as people are reaching for anything that can help them.

Start by making sure you are using good sleep hygiene rules:  

  • Sleep in a dark room and use white noise like a fan or sound machine.  
  • Try to go to bed the same time every night.  
  • Get off your screens (all of them) at least an hour or more before going to sleep – the light that screens emit can alter your sleep pattern.  
  • Good exercise makes your body more restful at night. If you can, exercise hard during the day – the harder the better.  

Then try the following:  

  • Replace your coffee with green tea. Green tea contains an amino acid called theanine which helps keep you calm and improves sleep.  
  • Melatonin is the best natural substance to get your circadian cycle back on track. It’s widely available as a supplement.  
  • There are great herbs to calm you down and help you get a good night’s sleep, including lemon balm, hops, passionflower, and chamomile]
