Hidden Household Danger Destroying Your Lungs?!

Having healthy lungs is essential as you age

Because if your lungs are struggling, simple things like walking to the mailbox, or even going down the steps without wheezing feel impossible.

And especially in our current climate… you WANT strong, healthy lungs.

While exercising and quitting smoking will certainly help…  that’s not all you should be doing.

Because new research shows there’s a lung-destroying culprit that can put you on the fast track to one of the worst lung diseases out there.

And it’s probably in your home right now.

I’m talking about chemical cleaners that contain alcohol, peroxide, ammonia, and bleach.

And, I’m sure, like most folks lately – you’ve probably been using these more than you normally would.

For years, researchers have known that these chemicals can give you headaches and irritate your lungs and eyes.

Now we know they can do SERIOUS LUNG DAMAGE, too.

In fact, a new Harvard University study finds that using these cleaners can up your risk of chronic lung disease by almost 40 percent.

For the study, researchers followed a group of over 73,000 nurses – who use cleaning products frequently at work – beginning in 1989.

The scientists discovered inhaling common cleaning products such as alcohol, peroxide, bleach, and other toxic chemicals can harm your lungs.

We’ve known for a while that folks who use cleaning products frequently are much more likely to have a lung condition Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) than the rest of the population. COPD is the name for several chronic lung diseases like bronchitis and emphysema.

Many chemical cleaning supplies contain VOCs, or volatile organic compounds, which are corrosive, irritating the eyes, throat, and lungs and can cause headaches.

But it’s not just the immediate burning and headaches that you have to worry about… repeated exposures may do long-term harm.

What can you do?

There are many natural cleaning products on the market today.

There are also enzymatic cleaners – which contain ‘good’ bacteria and are primarily used to clean fat and oil and to eliminate odors that don’t have the same irritant effects or raise COPD risk

Also, it’s good to make sure you have good ventilation when you are cleaning. Open some windows to get the air flowing.

P.S. With the recent pandemic you’ve probably run through your share of disinfectants and cleaners. If you’ve run out, or plain tired of spending a crazy amount on cleaning products, go here to read about alternatives to keep your home clean and safe.
