This Surgery Raises Opioid Addiction 13%! [Shocking]

Dear Reader,

I have a question for you — how many epidemics are going on right now?

This answer might seem obvious.

And while the COVID-19 epidemic may get all of the press, there is a slower epidemic that’s been going on in the background for years

Prescription drug addiction and overdose is the quiet epidemic killing thousands of people every year.

Even worse? A new study shows having this certain kind of surgery could dramatically increase your risk for drug addiction.

A researcfellow at the New York Presbyterian hospital recently decided to look into drug addiction and cancer surgery, and he found that women having a mastectomy are at a great risk of developing a prescription drug addiction.

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 128 people die every day from an overdose on opioids (that is 46,000 people every year since 1990).

In the crazy world of mainstream —medicine, doctors are now prescribing a group of drugs called sedative hypnotics instead of opioids, but people are getting addicted to those too.

Cancer patients, in particular, are susceptible to receiving and becoming dependent on many sorts of drugs, especially opioids and sedative hypnotics (like benzodiazepines, Xanax, or Ambien).

In fact, about 10 percent of cancer patients will become long-term users of opioids.

The research fellow looked at over 25,000 post-surgical mastectomy patients and found that 13 percent of them became long-term users of opioid medications or benzodiazepines.

But it’s worse than that

IF the women received opioids or sedative hypnotics around the time of surgery, that number went up to 17 percent (almost one in five).

That is a lot of folks addicted.

So, how do you avoid becoming part of this statistic

The first thing to realize is that there are times in your life you may need these drugs (such as after surgery).

And there are three things to keep in mind when it comes to effective and healthy pain management:

  • The firstyou need to take those drugs BEFORE you feel pain during the first day or so. Staying atop of pain management the first day is an important part of pain management.
  • Second: you need to taper off them as quickly as possible.
  • Third: take non-addicting natural medicine to support you.

Here’s an example of what good pain management looks like:

During the first 24-48 hoursmake sure you stay on your schedule (say, taking the drug every hour like clockwork).

But after the first day or two, wait as long as you can before taking a dose. In fact, many people transition to over-the-counter drugs during the second day and drop the opioids altogether.

Of course, there is a lot of adjusting for the severity of the surgery/injury, but the principles remain the same: drop the opioids as soon as possible.

You can then make sure you are taking enough fish oil, turmeric, and other natural anti-inflammatories to help ease your pain and inflammation.

It is hard to taper your pain medications quickly, but it is the best way to avoid addiction (and much more pain in the future).
