DEFEAT Colds and Flu with Dr. Scott’s 6-Step System
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
When it comes to fighting a cold or flu, the mainstream gets it wrong every time.
Conventional docs push useless shots, dangerous nasal sprays, and cough medicines that don’t work.
But you don’t have to be a sitting duck every time you get a cold or flu.
Here’s my easy 6-step system that will make the sniffles disappear FAST.
Just because mainstream medicine has no clue about what to do with a cold or flu, doesn’t mean you have to wait it out.
There are many things you can do to make your immune system stronger and your body more resilient.
And the great news is nature provides us with the tools to shorten the duration of a cold or flu and get you back to feeling like your old self in no time.
Let me show you.
- Boost your immune system before you get sick. Add more protein to your diet to get extra amino acids to boost your immune system. And as always, kick sugar out of your diet: it lowers your immunity.
Choose fresh vegetables, especially garlic and onion. These underrated vegetables contain antibiotic and antimicrobial properties and are also natural anti-inflammatories. While you’re in the kitchen, make sure you add plenty of spices like turmeric, thyme, and basil that can also support your body’s own healing mechanism.
- Eat intuitively. When you’re sick, I recommend you don’t eat if you’re not hungry. This is part of trusting your body and what it’s telling you. Fasting is a time-honored way to quickly get rid of a cold, but it’s not for everyone. If you feel like eating, then choose simple foods like soups and broths.
- Slow down. Being busy and stressed weakens your immune system. That makes you more susceptible to colds, and it allows colds to linger for longer. Even though the warmer weather and loosening quarantine restrictions are making everyone active again, try to slow down and cut your stress levels where you can.
- Sweat it out. Take advantage of any opportunity to enjoy a steam room or sauna. Not only does this help with detoxification and shortening colds, it also forces you to take time off and relax.
- Get your shuteye. With more nighttime and less daytime, it makes sense that we’d sleep longer in the winter. But now that it’s spring, we’re breaking out of our natural hibernation. That doesn’t mean, however, that you should neglect this essential part of the healing process. Getting the right amount of sleep is essential to your health and your body’s ability to fight disease. Aim for 7 to 9 hours a night, more if you’re sick.
- Load up on herbs and vitamins. There are many herbs such as echinacea, turmeric, olive leaf and others that promote healing and make colds shorter and less painful. Most are easily available online or at your local health foods store.
P.S. While there are many spices and seasonings that can strengthen your immune system, this one can actually tear it down. Find out what it is right here.
