Fruit Trick HALTS Alzheimer’s (Amazing!)

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

If you could erase one disease, what would it be?

It’s hard to choose. So many diseases cause unfair suffering and misery.

But if it were up to me, I’d eliminate Alzheimer’s disease.

Nothing is more heartbreaking than watching someone slowly lose their memory and independence.

And if you’re aging, this is a very real threat.

That’s why I want to tell you about this amazing “fruit trick” that can halt Alzheimer’s in its tracks, and even help regrow your brain.

And it’s NOT too good to be true.

An apple a day keeps the doctors away… and now there’s science to prove it!

An exciting new study published in Stem Cell Reports found that certain molecules inside an apple are exactly what your brain needs to keep dementia at bay.

It all begins with flavonoids. You probably remember me talking about them before. They’re great for maintaining healthy cholesterol levels and protecting your immune system.

Well as it turns out, a specific type of flavonoid called phytonutrients are vital for your memory.

For the study, the researchers isolated two types of phytonutrients: quercetin and dihydrozybezoic acid (DHBA).

Then, they gave them to mice to see the effects on their brain. And they were shocked: both the quercetin and the DHBA helped grow new grey matter in the mice’s brains.

Grey matter is the business part of the brain: the brain’s nerve cells. The nerve cells show up on certain scans as clumps of grey (hence, the name).

And the researchers found that the MORE phytonutrients they gave the mice, the MORE the grey matter grew.

So what’s the connection to apples?

Both quercetin and DHBA come from apples. DHBA is a natural preservative that is responsible for giving apples their distinctive aroma, and quercetin is part of the peel.

Of course, it’s not just your brain but your whole body that benefits from phytonutrients.

Phytonutrients benefit our health in so many ways. Previous studies found that they have a link to reducing the risk of diseases like cancer, heart disease, and dementia.

Good phytonutrients act as antioxidants and reduce inflammation by strengthening your immune system—which we all need right now. In fact, quercetin was found in another study to help those fighting COVID-19.

Honestly, it is hard to get enough phytonutrients, so I always suggest a powered concentrated form of fruits and vegetables. You can find this as a supplement or a powder to add to smoothies.

P.S. Want to boost your memory even more? One study showed that this cozy drink can up your recall and even your brain processing speed! Read all about it right here.
