Diagnose Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease EARLIER?!

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

When you think of the health nightmares that could happen to you, Alzheimer’s disease is probably at the top of the list…

And I’d be willing to bet Parkinson’s is not too far behind.

Both of these diseases wear down the neurons in your brain, leaving horrific damage that steals everything from your mobility to your memories.

It’s something you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy… and it’s something you pray you never get.

Thankfully, doctors are getting better at tracking these diseases earlier and earlier… and the earlier they’re diagnosed, the better your chances are of beating Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

And now, researchers have unlocked an exciting new clue that could diagnose both of these diseases earlier.

Your eyes aren’t just the windows to the soul… they’re also the window to your future brain health.

Researchers have discovered that all it could take is one trip to the eye doctor to diagnose both Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease.

See, a good ophthalmologist can tell whether you have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, certain cancers, and several other illnesses just from one exam.

And now we can add Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s to that list.

Recent research from the Mayo Clinic Study of Aging discovered that changes to your retina (part of your eye) could foreshadow neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Your retina is a layer of cells at the back of the eyeball. It contains light-sensitive cells that trigger the nerve impulses that pass through your optic nerve to your brain.

Your retina is technically part of your eye, but it’s also an extension of your brain.

You see, the nerve cells in the retina are similar to brain cells. This means an eye doctor can see the health of your brain cells by looking at your retina.

This is good news because by the time someone starts to complain of memory problems (in Alzheimer’s) or has tremors (in Parkinson’s) those diseases are already well-established and could have been going on for a long time.

Having an early warning system means you can take steps now to protect your brain.

The state-of-the-art test right now is a PET scan which costs between $3,000 and $6,000… and most insurance won’t pay for it without symptoms.

This new retinal exam, however, is easy and costs FAR less.

Brain health is something I think everyone should take seriously. And until this test is readily available, you should take steps today to keep your brain healthy.

And thankfully, it’s pretty simple.

Dr. Scott’s Brain-Keeping Plan:

  • Exercise. Getting enough exercise not only helps in your anti-aging program, but you can also get more sunshine, which helps your body produce its own vitamin D.
  • Eat a diet full of color and as many veggies as you can. “Taste the rainbow” doesn’t just apply to that famous candy. Try to vary the vegetables you eat each week.
  • Take anti-aging nutrients. Alpha-lipoic acid, CoQ10, curcumin, and astaxanthin are powerful antioxidants and anti-aging nutrients.
  • Keep your blood sugar under control. One of the other reasons we age fast is because of out-of-control blood sugar. Use the mineral chromium and the herbal extract berberine to help keep your blood sugar under control.
  • Make sure you have enough nutrients. This usually means taking a multivitamin to make up for nutrient shortfalls that can happen due to diet.

P.S. Researchers have also uncovered a much more sinister cause of Parkinson’s disease… and it could be sitting in your medicine cabinet right now. Find out what it is right here.
