Kitchen Staple SPREADS Infection (Scary)
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
I have some bad news…
Antibiotics have become useless.
I’ve said this before, but I think antibiotics are one of the greatest gifts we were ever given… and now it looks like we just blew it.
Infections that wouldn’t normally be serious are now deadly.
Because what mainstream docs don’t realize is, every time they hand out antibiotics like candy, they’re also making super-bugs.
It also doesn’t help that Big Food dumps antibiotics into animal feed, which creates antibiotic resistance in everyone who eats that food.
But now researchers have discovered a THIRD danger that’s creating antibiotic resistance.
It’s hiding out in your kitchen cabinet right now.
A new study, published in the ISME Journal, found that artificial sweeteners can promote the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
You see these chemical sweeteners – like saccharine, sucralose, aspartame, and acesulfame potassium – all promote “horizontal transfer of genes” between bacteria.
That’s a mouthful, but what it suggests is that bacteria can swap antibiotic resistance between members of the same species AND other species.
It is like a secret being passed among thieves.
And once a single bacterium learns how to outsmart an antibiotic, it can spread that information to other bacteria, and they all become resistant to that antibiotic.
As you probably know, I’m not a fan of sugar (it’s not something you should eat). BUT I’d much rather you eat sugar than artificial sweeteners.
Artificial sweeteners were created in a laboratory and can wreak havoc on your health. They destroy your microbiome, can increase certain cancers, cause headaches…. and much more.
And now those fake sugars are causing antibiotic resistance.
Your best bet is to avoid both sugar and artificial sweeteners. So if you’re a fan of Equal, Sweet ‘N Low, or Splenda, it’s time to throw those out, and limit your intake of sugar as much as possible, including added sugars.
P.S. This isn’t the first time I’ve talked about artificial sweeteners. Unfortunately, they have a long track record of causing damage. Find out more here about this life-threatening condition caused by artificial sweeteners.
