[COVID-19] 54% of Survivors Have THIS Deadly Condition?!

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

The pandemic has certainly been a whirlwind.

Every twist and turn has made me feel like I’m on one of the craziest, scariest roller coasters known to man.

And now researchers have discovered another twist in this journey.

A new study shows that as much as 54 percent of COVID-19 patients could be afflicted with this deadly condition…

But thankfully, you can protect yourself before it happens to you.

COVID-19 struck a lot of us in our hearts emotionally… but for some COVID-19 patients it did physically as well.

You see, one of the ways the COVID-19 virus attacks our bodies is by attaching to cells called ACE2 receptors.

Once the virus attaches to those receptors, it invades the cell and hijacks your cell’s machinery where it starts to produce more copies itself… and soon it causes waves of inflammation to sweep through your body.

But there are huge genetic differences in people, and you may have more ACE2 receptors in your digestive tract and lungs, as well as your heart.

A group of scientists from the University College London designed a study to figure out specifically what COVID can do to your heart.

They looked into 148 cases of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 and narrowed the group down to healthy people and those who had elevated troponin levels.

Troponin is a protein found in the muscles of your heart, where it stays if you’re healthy. But once it moves to your bloodstream, that means trouble. This is one way doctors can tell if you’ve had a heart attack.

They found that about half of the 148 patients who had COVID-19 had high troponin levels when examined two months later.

This means the aftershocks of COVID-19 could still impact their hearts… even MONTHS, after recovering from the virus.

It’s also worth noting that many of the patients had diabetes, hypertension, and a high BMI. So, if you have any of these conditions, it’s important to continue washing your hands, keeping your distance, and wearing your mask.

And it’s also a good time to start controlling your weight, blood sugar, and heart health.

Since inflammation is such a big part of the disease process, let me show you how to make sure you are doing everything you can to control inflammation.

Dr. Scott’s Inflammation and Heart Disease Program:

  • Exercise. Exercise not only reduces inflammation but is great for the heart (and the brain). You don’t have to be too crazy, just get out and move your body around some every day.
  • Eat Colorful Foods. This means getting enough vegetables in your diet. If you can’t stand veggies, you can “cheat” by getting your veggies and other superfoods in a powdered form. I take one every day by mixing it into yogurt and some berries.
  • Avoid Vegetable Oils. These additives, especially trans fatty acids, are like setting off tiny bombs in your bloodstream which increase inflammation.
  • Fish Oil. One of the most powerful anti-inflammatories is fish oil. It works inside your body to keep inflammatory proteins low.
  • Curcumin. This extract from turmeric is great at helping the body modulate inflammation. Unless you get a ton of this in your food, you should think about supplementing.
