This Med CAUSES Skin Cancer?! (Scary)

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

For years, the mainstream has blamed skyrocketing cancer rates on three things: smoking… poor diet… and bad genetics.

But they’ve left out one gigantic thing…

Your prescription bottles.

New research shows that this medicine thousands of Americans take every day could cause skin cancer.

Here’s everything you need to know.

I’m talking about blood pressure medications… specifically, thiazides. These drugs are sometimes sold under the names hydrochlorothiazide (Microzide), metolazone (Zaroxolyn) and bendroflumethiazide (Naturetin).

They act as diuretics, which means they increase urine flow. They’re what most people call their “water pills.”

But now, a new study shows how dangerous these drugs could actually be.

The study, published in the Journal of the Canadian Medical Association, looked at 302,634 adults prescribed a thiazide and 605,268 adults who weren’t.

The group taking thiazides had an increased risk for keratinocyte carcinoma (a type of skin cancer risk) and an even higher risk for melanoma.

What’s interesting is, this didn’t happen for folks on other types of blood pressure-lowering medications. Only those on thiazides had a higher risk of cancer.

And the truth is, you may not need to be taking these pills in the first place.

There are many natural medicines that can help with blood pressure control.

Let me show you.

Dr. Scott’s Blood Pressure Control Program:

  • Exercise. Good, consistent exercise is one of your best tools for keeping your blood pressure low.
  • Vitamin C. There are scientists who speculate that high blood pressure is a form of scurvy (extremely low vitamin C).  Your blood vessels need vitamin C to be healthy. Remember, we are one of the few mammals who cannot produce their own vitamin C.  Anyone who doesn’t supplement does not get enough of this vitamin, so add it to your list.
  • CoQ10. This antioxidant/enzyme is found throughout our bodies and is used for energy production. Since our heart is one of the most energy-hungry organs in our bodies, it needs CoQ10.  CoQ10 has been shown to lower inflammation, reduce blood clots, lower blood pressure, and help prevent skipped beats like arrhythmias or atrial fibrillation.
  • Potassium. Potassium is needed throughout your body, but especially in your heart. Supplementing with potassium is not a good idea, however— this is one mineral you need to get through food.
  • Fish oil. EPA and DHA found in fish oil have long been shown to be heart-healthy and help manage blood pressure. Studies have shown that Omega-3 fatty acids (found in fish oil) can reduce heart disease by up to 52 percent. Fish oils work by reducing inflammation and softening up arteries so they stay flexible. Take between one to three grams a day.

P.S. If you suffer from high blood pressure, it could be caused by a factor your doctor doesn’t know about. Read this before your next appointment.
