Stroke Patients: Cut Your Death Risk by 80%

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

If you’re a senior, your risk of getting a stroke is VERY high.

According to scientists, middle-aged adults have a 17 percent risk of having a stroke in their lifetime.

Having a stroke not only destroys your brain, but it makes it difficult to walk, talk, drive, or even to complete daily chores.

But it doesn’t have to be all bad news.

Today I’m going to tell you how to cut your risk of early death by up to 80 percent.

And it starts with stepping out your front door.

*****

A new study found that folks under 75 who walk or garden at least three to four hours per week dropped their risk of stroke by an amazing 80 percent.

To get these results, researchers examined the health records of 895 stroke survivors, and compared them to the health records of over 97,000 folks who’d never had a stroke.

Then, they had the participants answer a questionnaire about their exercise: what activities they did, how long, and how often. Next, they followed the folks for four and a half years to track the results.

They discovered that folks over 75 could benefit from walking three to four hours a week as well… their stroke risk was slashed by 54 percent.

And there’s more.

No matter your age, the numbers get even better if you walk or exercise six to seven hours per week.

I know that sounds like a lot, but you can hit three hours easy by simply walking 30 minutes a day (with one day off).

So, what are you waiting for?

Get out and move your body around to keep your brain healthy.

If your neighborhood isn’t very walkable, don’t worry. You can get the same results from walking in place in front of the TV while you enjoy your favorite shows, or even by walking up and down the stairs in your home a few times. The main goal is to get moving and get blood flowing.
