Missing Nutrient INCREASES Osteoporosis Risk?
I’m sick and tired of hearing the mainstream talk about calcium.
No animal on Earth consumes as much calcium as we humans do… and yet we still have some of the frailest bones!
But new research shows I’ve been right all along… because the REAL reason for weak bones has nothing to do with calcium.
Instead, it boils down to just one thing…
A missing nutrient that could INCREASE your osteoporosis risk.
And you’re not going to believe what it is.
A new research study, published in the journal Biological Trace Element Research, found that having low copper GREATLY reduced bone mineral density.
The researchers combed through data from the National Health and Nutritional Examination Surveys (NHANES) on 8,224 people.
They assessed the copper intake (through both food and supplements) of the participants through survey, and then compared the results to the bone mineral density of the participants’ femurs and spines.
And they found that not only did the high copper group have better bone density, they also had LOWER rates of osteoporosis.
This supports what I’ve been saying for years – bones NEED more than just calcium!
In order to have healthy bones (and most people don’t), you need to feed your body the nutrients it needs to build and maintain those bones.
And if you’re only focusing on calcium, you’re going to be missing out.
Dr. Scott’s Healthy Bone Plan:
• Protein is another forgotten nutrient needed for good bone health. Most proteins will help with bone growth, but collagen is extremely important to build good bones. I take a powered collagen product because collagen is hard to get through diet alone.
• Vitamin C isn’t just for your immune system. It also works with protein to create a collagen matrix that holds all the bone minerals.
• Vitamin D is one of the most important nutrients you can take to help build good strong bones.
• Vitamin K is another nutrient that’s essential for bone building. (In fact, I wrote about it right here.) A word of caution: if you’re taking blood thinners, ALWAYS check with your doctor before taking vitamin K.
• Many minerals besides copper are important for your bone health, including magnesium, boron, and chromium. Load up on foods with these minerals, or start taking a high-quality multivitamin.
