“Sugarplum Secret” BUILDS Strong Bones
It’s that special time of year, but with all of the holiday frenzy going on, it can be easy to neglect your health.
If there’s one thing you want to avoid as you get older, it’s weak bones.
Because breaking a hip isn’t just painful… it can also be DEADLY.
In fact, one-third of seniors who break a hip die within 12 months.
But now, you can build stronger bones with this “sugarplum secret”… and soon you’ll be enjoying the holidays again INSTEAD of worrying about your health.
The solution? Dried plums.
I know plums aren’t the first thing you think of when you think about bone heath, but take a look…
A new study, published in the British Journal of Nutrition, found that eating dried plums could help women lose LESS bone density as they age.
Osteoporosis is a condition which affects mostly women and occurs when bones become weak, increasing the risk of a fracture.
What most people realize is that your bones are in a constant balancing act between creation and destruction.
You have cells inside your bones called osteoclasts that break down bone, while osteoblasts build bone up. This “remodeling” is normal and happens throughout your life.
The problem occurs when the osteoclasts get the upper hand and break down more bone than the osteoblasts can replace.
This high number of osteoclasts happens mostly because of changes in hormones during menopause and aging. On average, women tend to lose about 3 to 5 percent of their bone density each year – during the first five to seven years of menopause.
And I’m sorry to tell you, but, men, you’re not exempt. Senior men also lose bone density, usually beginning around age 65.
But dried plums could change all of that.
In the study, women were given either 10 dried plums daily or dried apples.
At the end of the study, the researchers measured the participants’ bone density at the forearm and the spine, and found that the women who’d eaten dried plums had much better bone density.
The reason? The researchers discovered that natural chemicals in dried plums BLOCK the action of osteoclasts – thereby evening out the playing field, and keeping more bone density.
It’s simple. Adding dried plums to your daily routine can help you keep your bones healthy.
