[COVID-19] How to Stay Safe This Holiday Season
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say this pandemic has gone on too long.
We’re all tired of wearing masks, and even hearing the words, “social distancing” can ignite frustration.
And the worst part is, it’s this exhaustion with the rules that’s causing an uptick in cases of COVID-19 (plus the flu and colds).
The winter surge – as it’s known among disease specialists – is an increase in all contagious diseases that begins in the fall and continues on into the winter months.
But that doesn’t happens mean you have to cancel Christmas.
Thankfully, once you understand why the surge is happening, it’s a lot easier to stay safe this holiday season.
And I’m going to tell you exactly how to do it.
Recent reports show the cases of COVID-19 have increased about 14 percent in the United States.
And certain portions of the country have been especially hard hit, with Michigan and Minnesota having a 60 percent increase in cases over the last two weeks.
Even in well-vaccinated parts of the country, the numbers are rising.
The reasons for this are many, but mostly can be chalked up to three factors… and knowing them, can help you stay safe.
The first reason for the spread is non-vaccinated people who don’t socially distance. If you have friends or family who’ve opted out of getting vaccinated, it may be best to keep your distance for a while. Or, if you live in a warmer climate, consider meeting outside.
The second reason for the spread is the way the information came down from the government. They implied that once we were all vaccinated, then the pandemic would be over.
People thought that once they got the shot, they were bullet-proof. But we’ve seen how the vaccine doesn’t do much to slow transmission… and that’s kept a lot of people from signing up to get vaccinated (which contributes to the FIRST problem).
The last reason is what I mentioned earlier: we’re all tired of covering our faces and staying away from other people. It just gets old!
But the truth is, sticking with the rules is the best way to stay safe.
So, what can you do?
My first suggestion is always to be as healthy as you can. Make sure you’re eating well, getting enough sleep, exercising, and taking supplements to make up for any nutritional deficiencies. You should especially focus on taking a multivitamin and extra vitamin D. Aim for no more than 4,000IU daily.
Outside of that, the rest you know:
- Wash your hands – well and often.
- Try not to touch your face.
- Wear a face mask when leave your house, even if they’re not required in your state or county anymore.
- Social distance as much as you can.
P.S. Lots of folks have been skipping out on doctor appointments thanks to pandemic panic… but it’s taking a toll. Find out how COVID-19 could be causing this heart-related issue, right here.
