Prescription Drug ELEVATES Heart Attack Risk 40%
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
The prescription drug game has gotten way out of control.
Big Pharma has made it nearly impossible to get treatment for a disease that doesn’t involve new meds to try.
But now, they’ve done something truly unscrupulous.
If you have depression, fatigue, problems with your muscles or nerves, or are recovering from a stroke, you might want to check your medicine cabinet.
Doctors have begun prescribing this dangerous drug to patients over 65 at an alarming rate.
What most doctors haven’t realized, however, is that it could have some terrifying side effects.
In fact, one study has shown that medication could ELEVATE the risk of heart disease (and heart attack) by 40 percent.
In recent years, doctors (at the indirect request of drug companies) have started to prescribe stimulants, which can include drugs like amphetamine (Adderall), dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine), and methylphenidate hydrochloride (Ritalin).
These drugs are usually prescribed for the treatment of attention disorders like ADHD, but now they’re being prescribed at an alarming rate for a number of conditions, including fatigue, depression, and muscle and joint problems.
And while these drugs come with huge side effects in younger populations, they can be downright deadly for seniors.
A recent study has found that using stimulants increases the risk of arrythmia and heart attacks in people 65 years and older.
The researchers examined the health records of over 6,000 seniors who’d been prescribed stimulants between the years 2002 and 2016. Then, they compared those records to the ones from almost 25,000 folks who had never taken stimulants.
And the researchers found that the risk of heart problems was highest when people had just started taking the stimulant.
They study conductors warned that even though they saw a decrease of problems as time went on, it may have more to do with people quitting the drugs because of side effects (such as feeling irregular heartbeats or racing hearts) than the problems resolving themselves.
I should warn you here that stopping stimulant drugs suddenly can cause A LOT of issues, such as depression, sleepiness, and sluggishness.
I suggest that if you want to stop taking a stimulant, work with your doctor to slowly reduce your dosage.
P.S. If you’re struggling with depression or energy problems, you may want to try this powerful supplement duo. You can find out more right here.
