Woodland Secret BANISHES Depression

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

Depression is something no one wants to be stuck with.

If you’re blue, you can feel trapped by your moods and are unable to escape the downward spiral.

But what most a lot of folks don’t realize is that the food you eat can have a HUGE effect on your mood.

Many processed foods contain chemicals that cause inflammation and can directly harm your brain… and inflammation has long been linked to depression.

But there’s something you can ADD to your diet to help your mood as well.

New research has shown that this woodland secret can help you banish your low mood.

And it costs practically pennies!

I’m talking about mushrooms.

Mushrooms are having a moment, and I think this is great news! I’ve been prescribing medical (very strong) mushrooms for over 20 years. They help with a wide variety of conditions including:

  • cancer,
  • inflammation,
  • blood sugar control,
  • immune support,
  • detoxification,
  • and much more!

But I would have never guessed they could help with depression.

Then I read about a group of researchers who investigated the role of mushrooms on our brain health.

These researchers, from Penn State College of Medicine, looked at data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of over 24,000 adults. Then, they compared how often adults ate mushrooms with how many of them reported feeling depressed.

And they found that those who ate more mushrooms had a much lower risk for depression.

The researchers hypothesized mushrooms decrease depression because of their high levels of vitamin B-12, vitamin D, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory components.

Mushrooms are also the highest dietary source of the amino acid ergothioneine, a powerful antioxidant that prevents cell and tissue damage… which studies show may help decrease mental illness and depression.

What’s amazing about this study is that most people were eating the common button mushrooms you see in the grocery store!

But there are many mushrooms to choose from, and a lot of them have higher amounts of vitamins and phytochemicals.

More stores are starting to carry these, including shiitake, reishi, chaga, cordyceps, and lion’s mane and others, all of which can help to modulate hormones and lower stress, improve mood, and drop levels of depression and anxiety.

P.S. Did you know that mushrooms could also help with this deadly men’s health issue? Find out more right here.
