This Virus INCREASES Parkinson’s Risk 70%
Dear Living Well Daily Reader,
I bet you could list at least a few things you can do to avoid heart disease.
And I’m sure you could also list a few more things you can do to reduce your risk of diabetes and cancer.
But what can you do to lower your risk of Parkinson’s disease?
The answer might surprise you.
According to a new study, this one thing could RAISE your risk of developing Parkinson’s by 90 percent…
A recent study published in the journal JAMA Neurology combined information on 10,231 men and women diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease between 2000 and 2016.
The researchers then carefully analyzed each patient’s information against 51,196 control patients by matching them by age and sex.
When the researchers pored over the hospital records, they found something terrifying about flu patients.
Their analysis revealed folks who were hospitalized with the flu were 70 percent more likely to develop Parkinson’s disease within ten years.
And it gets worse.
When they looked at the data for 15 years, the likelihood increased to 90 percent.
Past studies also showed that Parkinson’s increased in the years following major flu outbreaks.
This study doesn’t necessarily give you a pathway to avoid Parkinson’s. After all, it can be hard to avoid getting an infection.
But if this pandemic taught us anything, it’s that wearing a mask in public places can reduce the flu.
It’s also important to note that many people get the flu every year and don’t go to the hospital.
The formula for avoiding harmful flu is the same as the formula for avoiding harmful COVID-19.
If you have heart disease, diabetes, or any other long-term condition, work as hard as you can to be healthy. This includes regular exercise, eating well, getting enough sleep and taking the right supplements.
