“Sunshine Factor” LOWERS Breast Cancer Risk

Dear Living Well Daily Reader,

In the United States, a woman’s risk of invasive breast cancer is 1 in 8 over the course of her lifetime.

While this may not seem high compared to diabetes or heart disease, it’s still very significant – and if you have a close relative who’s battled the disease, your risk elevates.

Like family history, there are a lot of other factors for breast cancer that you can’t do anything about… but there are a few that are within your control.

And one of the most effective is incredibly easy.

Researchers have found that this “sunshine factor” can lower your breast cancer risk… no matter the case!

According to a new study, published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention, getting more sun exposure means less chance of breast cancer.

The researchers compared the sun exposure of women living in sunny Puerto Rico and compared it to not-so-sunny Buffalo, New York. They found that breast cancer occurrence was lower for women with the highest accumulated sun exposure – regardless of skin pigmentation.

This relationship between sun exposure and less breast cancer held up even when the researchers compared estrogen receptor status, a biomarker that can indicate breast cancer risk.

Why does this work?

Vitamin D, which is created in our bodies when sunshine hits our skin, is believed to be the reason. This vitamin is also well known to reduce inflammation in the body.

But sun exposure itself can also reduce inflammation, lessen obesity, and help regulate our circadian rhythm, which can improve sleep and mood.

So, if you’re in a sunny place, then get yourself outside. You can also buy a lamp that mimics sun exposure for $24 on Amazon.com

P.S. If you want to reduce your cancer risk even more, add this to your routine.
